INGLEWOOD/LENNOX/HAWTHORNE COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

HISTORY
The Inglewood /Lennox/Hawthorne Community Health Council (ILH-CHC) was formed in 1997 and was convened by three stakeholders in Inglewood community. The ILH-CHC was formed as a collaboration between the community and a network of health-related service providers working together to improve the well-being and quality of life of residents in the Tri-City communities.

MISSION STATEMENT
To improve the health and human conditions that enhance the quality of life through: advocacy, education, empowerment and coordination of services.

AREA(S) OF FOCUS
The focus and the priorities of the ILH CHC has changed and expanded over time to be responsive to the needs of the communities in which it serves. However, consistent themes have emerged:

  • Identification of resources and assets of the Tri-City communities;
  • Promotion of existing relationships;
  • Strengthening of interagency referrals and community relationships;
  • Identification of gaps in service;
  • Development of opportunities for collaboration between agencies and the community.
