Medi-Cal This is a public program that pays for medical and mental health services for children under age 21, people 65 and older, disabled or blind, pregnant women, and families with at least one child under 21 where one parent is absent, disabled or working less than 100 hours per month. It provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who meet the program rules and do not qualify for free Medi-Cal. Healthy Kids This is a comprehensive health coverage program available to children between the ages of 0 to 18 years old who do not qualify for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families. Kaiser Permanente Child Health Plan This is a private program that provides comprehensive health and dental services to children between the ages of 0-18 who do no qualify for Medi-Cal, Healthy Families or Healthy Kids. Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) AIM is a low-cost health coverage program for pregnant women and their newborns. It has been designed for middle-income families who don't have health insurance and whose income is too high to qualify for no-cost Medi-Cal. AIM is also available to those who have health insurance if their deductible or co-payment for maternity services is more than $500. If you qualify for AIM, your baby is automatically eligible for enrollment in the Healthy Families Program. Child Health and Disabilities Prevention (CHDP) CHDP is a preventive health program serving children and youth. CHDP makes regular well-child checkups available to eligible children, not only those with obvious health problems but also those who appear well. California Children's Services (CCS) CCS is a statewide program that treats children with certain physical limitations and chronic health conditions or diseases.
