Accessing Benefits for Children - ABC Project |
Accessing Benefits for Children Project (ABC) seeks to improve health conditions and reduce the number of uninsured children in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Hawthorne, Lennox and Inglewood. The Project's mission is to educate, assist and refer families to low- and no-cost health benefits in an environment of trust, honesty and confidentiality. ABC works with families to enroll children in Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and other health coverage programs. The Project promotes the Child Health and Disability Prevention program as a means of increasing access to healthcare for low-income families. The Project's Outreach Workers are available to:
help families complete and submit the appropriate applications for healthcare programs conduct presentations about healthcare programs to parents through schools, Head Start sites, community clinics, community meetings, and health fairs coordinate referrals and/ or schedule appointments for parents with the Department of Public Social Services. Multiple sites located within the community host outreach and enrollment activities. ABC is funded by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.
