Food Policy Round Table Coalition
Thursday, October 23rd 2014  10am-12pm
Los Angeles, CA

The Food Policy Roundtable Coalition works to improve access to quality nutrition in South Los Angeles through policies that change institutional practices, increase food resources, and promote local investment as strategies for addressing health disparities. The Coalition is comprised of a broad-based, cross section of the community. In recent years, it has concentrated on urban planning/design and land use management to increase fresh food access in resource-poor communities. It was the impetus behind the City of Los Angeles’ General Plan Amendment that controls the growth of free standing fast food restaurants. It has contributed to the Community Plan Update process and the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles. The Coalition meets each third Thursday of the month from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
